Ferro Silicon Magnesium is an alloy made of calcium, magnesium, and rare earth added to ferrosilicon, also known as magnesium alloy spheroidizing agent. It is a good spheroidizing agent with high mechanical strength and strong effects of deoxidation and desulfurization. It is a light rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy used in the production of spheroidizing agents, vermicularizing agents, and inoculants. It is also used as an additive and alloying agent in the production of steel and iron. Ferrosilicon, rare earth ores, and metallic magnesium are the main raw materials for the production of rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloys. The production of rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloys is carried out in submerged arc furnaces, which consume a large amount of electricity, and can also be produced using intermediate frequency furnaces.
An additive that crystallizes graphite in cast iron into a spherical shape. The main components of a "spheroidizing agent" are nodularizing elements such as Mg, Ce, Ca, etc. The spheroidal graphite in ductile iron is formed by spheroidizing molten iron, making it much stronger and more ductile than gray iron, while maintaining a series of advantages of gray iron. However, the "spheroidizing agent" used in the melting and casting of ductile iron can increase the tendency of weld seams to produce "white" and hardened structures, causing cracks in the weld seams and heat affected zones (especially the fusion zone). Therefore, the weldability of ductile iron is worse than that of gray iron.
