Ferro Boron is an iron alloy mainly composed of boron and iron, and also contains impurities such as aluminum, silicon, carbon, manganese, and copper. It is a boron additive for iron and steel smelting, cast iron, amorphous alloys, and magnetic materials. Ferro boron contains 9% to 25% boron, classified according to the content of carbon and boron. There are also nickel boron (B14%), cobalt boron (B12%), chromium boron (B12%), aluminum boron (B2.5% to 3.5%), and various composite alloys.
Ferro Boron is mainly used as a boron additive in the metallurgical and mechanical industry. Adding it to steel can significantly improve the hardenability and mechanical properties of steel. Adding boron to high-quality alloy steel can replace metal elements such as chromium and nickel without affecting its mechanical properties. Adding 0.05% boron to cast iron can improve wear resistance. Ferro boron is also the main raw material for the production of permanent magnetic material neodymium iron boron and amorphous alloy strip products.
Boron can replace nickel and chromium as an additive in heat resistant steel and other alloy steels. Ferro boron is mainly used as an alloying element additive for smelting boron containing steel, and also as a deoxidizer.
